Argentina - Buenos Aires - Impressions of Recoleta

Last Sunday I went to Recoleta, one of the most expensive and upscale areas of Buenos Aires. There is also a very famous cemetery, where rich families tried to out do themselves with bigger and bigger mausoleums for their families. It is almost a small city within a city, however nobody "lives" here. Although there are lots of cats and I even saw laundry hanging out in the sun to dry ....
To begin with some of my favorite "Kitsch" shots .... sunset behind the "Big Ben" of Buenos Aires.

One of the many "streets" in this city like cemetery,

Laundry?

Many different architectural styles. Some of the graves are as big as a mansion.

Another small "street" lined with mausoleums .....

Old and new ..... an ultra modern steel and glass tower in the background of the "classic" graves.

Well, not everything is perfectly maintained. Some families might no longer reside in Buenos Aires or don't have the money to keep up.

Just another view to give you an impression .....

After visiting the cemetery we went to a nearby park where there was a big flea market, artists selling everything from paintings to leather goods, jewelry .... and there was this tin man dancing for money ....

At one intersection we found this clown who was entertaining a large audience. Here he pretended to board a bus. When the bus driver would not let him in he positioned himself in front of the bus and took his time ..... he was really funny.

Seems like you enjoy Argentine. Really like the photos of the market - been there ~5 years ago and enjoyed the fleemarket on a Saturday morning. Cheers from Germany - Udo W.
