Chile / Argentina - Curce de Lagos to Bariloche

After a relaxing day in Puerto Montt it was time for me to move on towards Bariloche. I had made arrangements to do the Cruce de Lagos, a tour across the mountains to Argentina including bus rides and four lake crossings on ferries. In general this is supposed to be an amazing trip with many beautiful views of the Volcanoes and mountains, but unfortunately the weather was really bad. No sun shine, lots of rain, string winds and later in the day even snow.

On our way to the mountains from Puerto Montt I really thought that I am in the Black Forrest. Tree covered hills, cattle farms it all seemed very familiar. No wonder many German immigrants settled in this area.

We stopped at a small National Park to view the waterfalls. A stream of lava from a volcanic eruption many hundreds of years ago blocked the river, which slowly carved a new river bed.

Of course no comparison to Niagara or Iguazu or even the "Triberger Wasserfaelle" (just kidding, that's the longest waterfall in Germany), but still a very nice view.

Our first catamaran for the lake crossing. At this point the weather was not too bad .... well at least it was not raining.

Unfortunately just a glimpse of this fantastic volcano (name will be provided later). It is supposed to be the "perfect" volcano due to its absolute conic shape and its snow cap. On sunny days it provides an amazing view..... too bad not today.

I simply loved the colours of these trees. We stopped in a little village on the lake, access only by boat.

From the "harbor" we had to walk about 1 kilometer to the village. It was actually quite a nice walk with great views of the lake and the small lagoon.

The lagoon, of course with sunny weather it would have been much more impressive.

Back on the boat .... although the weather was horrible it somewhat created amazing light effects.

Bettina and Elizabeth whom I have met on this trip.
