Chile - Torres del Paine III

During the night the wind was howling and blowing away all the clouds. The next morning we had blue skies and beautiful sunshine .... bummer. I thought briefly about hiking up to Torres Base again, but given the fact that my bus left in the afternoon for Puerto Natales I did not want to take any chances. The evening before I have met a Swiss doctor (Martin) who was hiking up so I asked him to please take a good photo for me. I selected a shorter hike towards another Refugio.

The hike was very mellow along small river streams and along the shore of two lakes. Incredible views most of the day. It was warm, sunny, but not too hot and barely any wind, perfect conditions for a great hike.

The colors were just amazing ....

Simply stunningly beautiful nature and hardly any people around. I met less than 10 other hikers all day.

Not enough snow covered mountains, here we go again :-)

The photo can not do the real impression any justice. The water appeared to be emerald green, the mountains reflected in the water, lush green and lots of colors all around.

Just one more photo of the mountains. Martin was so kind to send me this photo that he made of the "Torres". Yesterday you saw .... well .... nothing, but this is how it looks like on a sunny day.

Upon my return to the refugio I met Martin again who just came back from his hike to Torres Base and he shared his photos with me. Awesome. We had a beer and then it was time for to say goodbye to this great park and head over to Puerto Natales to catch the ferry.
